ABOUT

What makes us tick

Business Purpose

The purpose of Upland Consulting is to help regional businesses and their owners to grow, prosper, succeed and excel themselves.  This is our contribution.

Our mantra is “Head, Heart and Bottom Line™”.  Good businesses need, deserve, and nurture our thinking skills; also our emotions, values, sense of purpose and human connectedness.  And if we’re not holding ourselves to a respectable standard of bottom-line performance, we’re not really in business.  To build businesses worthy of the commitment, creativity and teamwork that we ask of ourselves and others, we need all our resources as human beings.  And our work is most fulfilling when we bring our whole selves to it.

Our method is based on the helicopter perspective, and on the humanities and human values.  We work with values, objectives, strategy, business plans, business structures, board & management effectiveness.  We take what the best boards do for the best companies, and make that accessible and available to our clients.

Our defining strength is working with the hard stuff: the intractable interpersonal issues, the high-leverage scary decisions, the critical conversations, the complex conundrums, the communication breakdowns, and the strategic/operational dilemmas that paralyse businesses.

And having fun.

Purpose-driven and seek to work with purpose-driven businesses

Specialists in making the best board thinking and tools accessible to all business owners

Local to the South West, and proud of iT

Expert in the high-leverage areas: vision, strategy, family and shareholder dynamics

Undeterred by critical conversations and high-stakes hard stuff

Method-based but not enslaved to a method – our toolkit is at our clients’ disposal
